Lift Beauty Boutique

Yesterday I had the pleasure of spending some time with beautiful ladies, munching on cupcakes and drinking delicious wine at Lift Beauty Boutique in Yorkville. Emily, Lift Beauty Boutique's co-owner, was kind enough to style my hair, and I must say - it looked amazing. I walked in with straight (boring) hair and walked out with gorgeous loose curls and loads of volume. Which leads me to Schwarzkopf OSiS Dust It, or as Emily describes it - hair crack.



I have to agree with her. Hello volume - it was incredible. I purchased this product a few weeks ago but had not tried it until Emily used it while styling my hair. What exactly is it? Dust It is powder that you sprinkle on your hair at the root for extra lift. It is very similar to Aveda's Pure Abundance Hair Powder - which I used to swear by, until now. In my opinion, Dust It works much better then Aveda's version, and best of all it is half the price.

Spring Trend - Side Braids

Leave it to the genius Alexander Wang to start a huge trend...the side braid seen at his Spring 2010 runway show. It looks so chic and effortless...I am loving this for spring. The best way to wear this is messy! Here are some tips...Just part your hair on the side, gather and braid. When the braid is placed let a few strands loose. If you want to go uber-intense, tease the hair at the crown before braiding. This will give you that crazy, "I've just crawled out of a cave" look which is so in at the moment!

L'Oreal Elnett Hairspray

I am totally obsessed. L’Oreal Elnett is by far the BEST hairspray I have ever used! I use hairspray practically everyday and I am so happy that I have finally found one that is so incredible! This hairspray is extremely fine and soft to the touch. It holds all types of styles and it never makes your hair hard or brittle like other hairsprays. I have nothing bad to say about this hairspray. I am totally hooked for life - it is GOLD. Anyone else swear by this incredible product? I hear it is used by the top stylists…I am not surprised!

Ladies, am I wrong when I say that the hair on our heads is one of the most important features on our lovely bodies, if not the MOST important? Summer Proof Hair

Summer is here and for most of you, so is frizz and above is a picture of Giesle Bundchen to make you all jealous of her fabulous hair. Hydrate your hair and avoid looking like a total mess this summer. Tame your frizz by soaking up your thirsty strands in moisture. Start off with a prewash treatment like Aveda Beautifying Composition. It is a lubricating oil that you brush through your hair before shampooing. Summer Hair Trend: Braids

This look is very low key and glamorous. It adds a twist to straight or wavy hair. Also, this is the biggest hair trend of the summer and looks perfect on everybody. Fashion Police: Whitney Port

What were you thinking?! This brings tears to my eyes. Whitney forgot to look at herself in the mirror after putting on this heinous get up. This is so wrong in so many ways. The colour washes her out. The fit is awful, it makes her look like her thighs are massive. Her hair is major blah. Her shoes on the other hand, are cute! This is my choice for hideous outfit for the week/today. Who knows, someone else may bring tears to my eyes tomorrow.

Get Jennifer Aniston's Look!

I love this look and Jennifer Aniston does it best. Thanks to Total Beauty I can share the steps to getting this fabulous hairstyle.

To get this look apply a texturizing product and roughly blow dry your hair to add texture to it. Tease the crown of your head then secure hair into a mid-height ponytail. Tease hair in the ponytail for added texture. Pull out face-framing sections of hair and use a flat iron to straighten them, creating a slight bend at the ends.

Kim Kardashian has lost it. She has gone blonde! I think she may have forgotten that brunettes have much more fun! I don't really like it. It doesn't look awful, but her brown hair was more beautiful.

She kind of looks like J.Lo with her new hair....

Farouk Chi Curling & Flat Irons

Farouk Chi Flat Irons, are without a doubt, the best flat irons on the market. I have used others and have been not been pleased. I find that a lot of flat irons really grab on to your hair and yank it out. Chi Flat Irons, don't do that. Their ceramic plates are placed in such a way that you don't have to worry about your hair being pulled out. Chi also has a great line of hair dryers and curling irons. They also have travel sized tools and 2 in 1 Ceramic Auto Digital Curling Iron, which is a flat iron and curling iron in one! I really love their tools and I have been using them for years, I wouldn't switch brands, because I really don't think there is anything that is better. They also have a large line of hair care products as well as organic products. I have yet to try them. I am currently looking into buying a curling iron, but I am having a hard time trying to decided what sized barrel I should get, 1 inch or 1 - 1/2 inch...such a dilemma!

Bumble & Bumble Brilliantine is an oil based creme that gives your hair a slept in sexy look. You can use it on damp or dry hair. Start off with only a little bit and work it through your hair, build up as needed afterwords. Bumble & Bumble Brilliantine adds smoothness, texture and shine. Winter Hair Rescue

1. Professional brands of deep conditioner treatments, rich in keratin will help to prevent hair from getting dry and damaged over the winter months. The benefits include depositing back extreme shine and a long lasting hydration (1 to 2 times a week depending on the type of hair).
Try - K-PAK Deep-Penetrating Reconstructor or K-PAK Intense Hydrator.

2. Leave -in conditioner provides lightweight moisture, while preventing static electricity and
detangling hair from irritating winter fly-aways.
Try - K-PAK Leave-In Protectant

3. Choosing a shampoo and conditioner with the right PH of 4. 5 - 5.5 and Hydro-Nutritive actives will greatly improve strength and shine.
Try - AG Tech One Daily Shampoo, it has a PH of 4.5 -5.5.

4. Using styling products with agents that protect hair from the heat of styling tools will prevent hair from becoming dry. 5. For a quick fix, if your hair is not behaving well due to static, make sure you carry in your purse a dryer sheet (Bounce). To apply, gently sweep the sheet along the flow of your hair shape.
Try - CHI 44 Iron Guard Thermal Protecting Spray or Biolage Thermal-Activating Spray.

OK, let's talk hair ladies...You may not always have the time to straighten or style your hair so, you need a great product to save you on your busy days.
