Fabulous Friday - Katy Perry

How cute is she?? I love this girl! Here is Katy Perry posing right before her huge birthday bash rocking a Hervé Léger dress and satin heels. I really like how she left her quirky style behind for that special evening.

Happy Friday!

Chanel 2.55 Handbag

Here is a little history regarding the timeless Chanel 2.55 handbag. I found this on Style Frizz and I thought it was very intesesting and thought I would share.

The 2.55 handbag bears that particular name simply because it was originally issued in February 1955. Her features have all a piece of tale to tell. From the inside out:The lining – The lining’s brown color represents the color of the uniforms from the convent where she grew up.The inside compartment – there’s a zippered compartment at the inside of the front flap. That’s where Coco Chanel hid her love letters (from her lover at the time). The backside – there’s a back outside flap on the handbag – that’s where Ms Chanel stashed extra money. The shoulder strap – as I said before, Coco Chanel grew up in an convent, at the orphanage. The caretakers hold the keys at their waist dangling from the same type of chains as the 2.55 shoulder strap chains. The front lock – the 2.55 front lock is different from the classic double CC logo. Its logo is called “the Mademoiselle Lock” (because Ms Chanel was never married)

Karl Lagerfeld who took over Chanel in 1983 reissued the 2.55 in February 2005. His version is the exactly the one designed by Coco Chanel back in 1955.

The Reissue was made in commemoration to the 50th anniversary of the original 2.55 and the name “Reissue 2.55” should apply only to those commemorative handbags.Instead, it’s commonly used now as a name for all the handbags resembling the original 2.55. As for those with CC interlocking, they’re called Classic Flaps.

The day I get this bag - I will never need another bag again...

H&M Shopping Rules for Jimmy Choo

Yeah, that's right, you read correctly - RULES. Here they are as written on the H&M website...

What do I do if I arrive before opening hours?

If there is a line, please wait in line and H&M store staff will inform you how to shop.

How does the queing system work?
The first 160 people in line will receive a bracelet; on the bracelet you will be given a specific time for shopping in our designated area. The bracelets are only needed for the women's shoes, bags and accessories. Customers shopping the men's collection or the women's garments will not require a bracelet.

When your time has come, we will let you into the designated area to shop. Our goal is to create a better shopping experience for all of our customers.

If you are not one of the 160 first in line, you will of course have the opportunity to shop from the rest of collection or within H&M. After about two hours we will also open up the designated area for all of our customers.

To make sure as many customers as possible are able to buy from the Jimmy Choo for H&M collection, we have a limitation. Every customer can buy the whole collection but with a limitation of buying maximum one per product, i.e. not more than one size (shoes/garments) or piece (accessories) per product per customer. The limitation covers the whole Jimmy Choo for H&M Collection. Your place in line does not guarantee any items from the Jimmy Choo for H&M collection.

How civilized! Ladies, there is one thing that H&M failed to mention that I will take upon myself to say to you...do not pull some random's hair because they snatched the last shoes, or handbag that you want- leave the hair pulling for outside the store...I know everyone will be going wild. Sadly, I will not attempt to get my hands on the fabulous items that H&M will have, because I will be devastated if I don't get what I want. I'm already devastated and the sale hasn't even happened.

If you feel extra generous pick me up a pair or two of fabulous shoes. I believe I am a size 6 in Choo. No flats please. I enjoy heels more.

Happy shopping!

ps. The collection will be released November 14th.

Beauty 101 - Foundation

Picking the right foundation is one of the most important things when it comes to beauty. It can also be very difficult since there are so many out there. Here is a breakdown of the all the different types...

Tinted Moisturizers: Sheer, minimal coverage. Great option for warmer weather.

Mineral Foundations: Medium to full coverage. Work great on sensitive skin - pigment is derived from the minerals rather than synthetic ingredients.

Oil-free and matte liquid foundations: Medium to full coverage. Work best on oily skin, but all skin types can use them for a matte finish.

Standard liquid foundations: Water is the first ingredient. Work best on normal to dry skin.

Powder- based foundations: Good for normal to oily skin because of their light texture.

Cream-to-powder foundations: A cross between a pressed powder and liquid foundation. Leave a matte, powdery finish.

High- definition foundations: Designed with high-definition lenses in mind. Reflect light instead of absorbing it, blurring fine lines and imperfections.

Airbrush foundations: Applied with a fine spray. With practice, they won't streak or cake; they leave a light, even coverage for a natural finish.

I hope this helps!

Hot Mess Monday - Alicia Keys & Sienna Miller

It's Monday again! I know you are all sitting at your desks hating life and dreaming of jager bombs. I know I am...ANYWAY...today I have two ladies who committed crimes of fashion recently. The first is Alicia Keys -lovely voice but heinous outfit. First off, that jacket - get a refund honey. It's fug. It looks extremely cheap but, that isn't even the bad part...look down...her shoes...my god...her shoes! WHY? WHO MADE THOSE AND WHY ARE THEY SO UGLY!? They make her look like a super villain. Darling, have you ever heard of Christian Louboutin? He makes nice shoes - try him. Please.

Next we have Sienna Miller. I'm going to go easy on her because clearly she got attacked on her way to the event and that is why her dress looks like that...Poor thing. She must be devastated because she looks like a idiot. At least her shoes are nice though! They must be Louboutins...

Happy Monday! I know, I know...there is nothing happy about it...

Fabulous Friday - Blake Lively & Scarlett Johansson

I know, I know, Blake Lively is a reoccurring fashionista on Fabulous Friday, but I just couldn’t help myself. I love this dress. Can you guess why? It is a Victoria Beckham creation! Looooove! You can’t really tell in the picture, but it is satin trimmed. It is just beautiful and on trend with the accentuated shoulders. Lively works it perfect with midnight blue pumps and glamorous make up for the Angel Ball in New York City.
Our second fashionista is Scarlett Johansson. To be honest I am not a fan of her and I don’t find her to be all the gorgeous but I think she looks great in this red-hot Givenchy couture sheath and Dior pumps for the Moet & Chandon Tribute to Cinema event in Tokyo. I also love her smoky cat eyes!

Happy Friday!

A day in the life of Coco

Ok, so today is "Coco Rocha Day" on Primped & Proper. I read a great article earlier and I thought I would share...here it is...

Coco Rocha is the woman every girl dreams of becoming.

She’s one of the world’s top-earning supermodels. She’s modeled for fashion houses like Marc Jacobs, Versace, Prada, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Dolce & Gabbana. She’s been cover girl for Harper’s Bazaar and W. For Vogue, she’s appeared on many international editions.

Did we mention she’s only 21? Rocha, born Mikhaila Rocha in Vancouver, was discovered by a talent scout at age 14. She’s the co-producer, with fashion website Modelinia.com, of She’s a Genius, a new music video celebrating fashion that’s set to JET’s song with the same name from their just-released album Shaka Rock.

Q. She’s A Genius shows a day in your life. What’s a day in your life really like?

I leave for work, take pictures, and go back home. It’s not that glamorous. Sometimes I go to movies or go out for dinner. It’s the life of a normal working girl.

Q. What does it take to become a supermodel?

You just have to be yourself. A lot of girls can’t say no, but the most successful models are the ones who stick to their values. Many up-and-coming photographers put a lot of pressure on models, but more experienced photographers don’t.

Q. Backstage photos usually show models smoking. How do you pass the time backstage?

I read books. I’m an old romantic type; I read books like (Jane Austen’s) Sense and Sensibility. Right now I’m reading The History of Love.

Q. What is models’ unhealthiest habit?

I don’t like to comment on other people’s habits. But smoking doesn’t make you any more successful in this business. Neither does not eating.

Q. How do you stay in shape?

I eat a lot of fruit and salads. I have a dancer’s body, which is more muscular, I have to be especially careful with what I eat before shows. Muscles don’t look good on photos. You just look fat.

Q. You were discovered by a model scout at an Irish dance competition, and in 1997 you opened a Jean Paul Gaultier show with an Irish dance. Why is dancing important to you?

When younger models ask me for advice about the business, I always tell them not to surround themselves with people from the fashion business 24/7. For me dancing is an outlet, so when I’m frustrated with modeling I dance. It’s very good for you to have a passion outside of modeling.

Q. Advice to young girls?

If you don’t love it, don’t do it. Stick to your moral values. People will respect you, and you will respect yourself. Don’t look at magazine covers and say “I want to look like her.” That’s what I think when I see photos of myself, too! People don’t realize how much editing goes into fashion photos.

Hot Mess Monday - Mandy Moore

Here is Mandy Moore dressed liked a major loser. My grandmother has more style than her. She clearly can’t afford a stylist because she hasn’t done anything in so long. And, no, I do not follow Mandy Moore’s “career”. I would much rather watch paint dry. I’m not sure why this girl is still in the public eye…I mean she has no real talent. Her songs were all pathetic and lame and her acting skills are shameful. If she was a train wreck with a drug problem, I would understand, but she’s a “good girl” and let’s be honest, that is boring. She has got nothing going for her. Her face isn’t even nice to look at; she kind of looks like an ugly wind up doll.

Happy Monday!

It’s not a bag, it’s a Birkin…

So I've been sitting at home on "vacation" from my day job while battling the flu, perfect timing, right? Anyway, I watched a little special about the oh-so-elusive Birkin bag and I decided to share my new found knowledge.

Named after British born actress, Jane Birkin, the Birkin bag is one of the most luxurious bags a person can own.

Model and actress Jane Birkin was rarely seen without her coveted Hermès Kelly Bag, named after actress Grace Kelly. While flying one day, her bag popped open, spilling the star's personal belongings all over the cabin.

As luck would have it, a fellow passenger overheard Birkin complaining about the impracticality of her Kelly Bag. It was then that Jean Louis Dumas, the president of Hermes, and Birkin decided to create a larger bag that could hold more of a woman's belongings. The Birkin Bag was born.

Introduced in 1984, the Birkin bag has been a symbol of luxury and wealth. If you want one start saving your pennies. The Birkin ranges from $7, 000 to about $15, 000. Oh, and there is a wait list...
